Director, Product Operations - Any Location Within USA

The Role

As Director of Product Operations, you will be the right hand person to the CPO, helping execute the product strategy and vision. Through this hybrid role of chief-of-staff, process guru, and data evangelist, you will play a key role in the company’s success. Working side-by-side with the CPO in a fast-paced environment, the Director of Product Operations will help optimize all of the drivers that affect product performance (process efficiency, product usage, go-to-market protocols, company financials, etc).


As a Director -level leader, you will use your experience to identify opportunities and suggest changes which fuel the scaling up of the Product and R+D organizations. You will collaborate with the other product leaders to encourage data-driven decisions across the teams and lead the implementation of the tools which enable them. Under your guidance, you will drive the teams to deliver results faster through process improvements.

Position Responsibilities & Essential functions:


  • Direct Report to Chief Product Officer, uses data and ‘on the ground’ feedback to keep a pulse on the product KPI’s from revenue mix, cost, delivery, coordination, and staff - provides data and analysis to drive action and results
  • Establish metrics to assess the strength of the portfolio mix and manage the ops team in tracking and analyzing them on an on-going basis to ensure the CPO is well informed
  • Provide regular reports on key activities across the Product and R+D organization and conduct ongoing data analysis to drive action and results
  • Inform the overall allocation of portfolio budget and resources in alignment with corporate and product strategy, balancing across core, growth, and innovation areas of the portfolio
  • Provide ways to review overall product portfolio performance and share insights which inform product strategy
  • Drive product and development maturity to across the organization by tracking overall goals and progress toward goals
  • Identify gaps in process, data, and tools that are impeding ability for the team to perform at their best
  • Manage our application analytics program, ensuring it enables companywide decision-making grounded in how our users actually use our software
  • Own and Track complex dependent schedule with a propensity toward automation and exception reporting versus traditional project management - the right individual will drive for automating the data to correlate status and spend more time on analysis of issues that are blocking versus focusing on the tasks of product management
  • Collaborate with our product management and development leaders to ensure data-driven processes are in place in the development cycle
  • Create a common scorecard to measure product line performance and establish KPIs each fiscal year (e.g., virtual P&L, market penetration)
  • Inform the overall allocation of portfolio budget and resources in alignment with corporate and product strategy, balancing across core, growth, and innovation areas of the portfolio
  • Lead efforts around agreements to critical standards (i.e., communications, security, availability, etc.) systematically across the development process
  • Ensure there is coordination between Product, Sales, Pre-Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Support to maintain alignment across portfolio release schedule, offering a roadmap, and GTM strategy in orders to ensure the CPO and Peer Leaders are driving the action
  • Act as a strategic liaison between executives, business leadership, and other stakeholders, and develop and deliver executive-level presentations as needed
  • Identify and lead efforts around critical standards needs (i.e., security, availability, etc.) systematically across the development process
  • Establish KPIs to assess the strength of portfolio mix and manage a team to track and analyze on an on-going basis
  • Act as a strategic liaison between executives, business leadership, and other stakeholders, and develop executive-level presentations and present as needed

Qualifications & Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or a related field, at least 7 years equivalent experience in a software or systems; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+years’ progressive experience in leading product and development teams in a complex environment; demonstrated experience in creating and commercializing compelling products and managing internal and external client expectations on requirements and deliverables.
  • Ready to lead a multi-disciplinary team that produces our market and competitive intelligence, user and prospect feedback analysis, application usage analytics, and internal product documentation.
  • Knowledge of data science or other data related skills, with direct experience configuring business intelligence software (comfortable with Tableau, Looker, or other third party tools and can ideate proto-types with data insights teams)
  • Experienced with the data and usage of common tools used in the product development and sales process (e.g. some of these or comparable tools JIRA, AHA, Salesforce, Freshsales, Zendesk, Pendo, etc.)
  • Data Science or other data related skills, ideally direct experience in a data-driven role that supported some area of software (Comfortable with Tableau, Looker or another third party in order to ideate proto-types)
  • Expert knowledge of modern product management concepts and techniques, including agile development methodologies.
  • Strong ability to think strategically & analytically to help solve complex business challenges under pressure.
  • Ability to navigate in a changing business landscape, and inspiring others.
  • Demonstrated ability to exert influence, and make and meet commitments in a highly-matrixed organization.
  • Remote in the US
